The candidate will be responsible for Avionics Systems Engineering across all of our clients Aircraft and new aircraft development programs and will report directly to the Manager of the Avionics & Flight Deck Centre of Excellence.
In your role, you will:
- Provide active participation towards Knowledge Domain (KD) vision within Production, and multi-stakeholder client engineering eco-system.
- Capable of clarifying and reinforcing the needs of existing AC Liaison production compliance within the KD working group.
- Capable of identifying KD gaps and presenting gap closure concepts to fellows at quarterly KD meetings.
- Capable of providing constructive critiques as a peer reviewer to other technical presentations.
- Capable of providing inputs towards the continuous improvement of client's manuals, process, standards, and other binding industry and/or regulatory standards.
- Capable of preparing forensics guidance, process, and training material in order to enable rapid knowledge transfers, and team member growth within liaison community.
- Influence KD strategy, objectives, key SME participant for review with Fellows
- Capable of supporting special requests from KD fellows as required.
- Educate other specialists within the group and wider stakeholder communities on technical decision making and influence.
- Capable of mentoring and coaching peers via specifics tasking execution.
- Capable of mentoring and coaching peers for mid and long-term career development.
- Provide recommendations for promotions from entry level engineering/technical professional, through to senior engineering/technical specialist.
- Capable of tracking and scoring career development.
- Capable of producing promotional artifacts to senior management.

- Lead and coordinate the Problem Report (PR) investigation and resolution process for A/C level issues.
- Capable of interpreting production environment compliance artifacts, testing results and aircraft behaviou in a predictive manner in order to mitigate production line “hard stoppages” and major forensics delays affecting deliveries. i.e., proactive resolution versus reactive resolution behaviour.
- Participate in internal audits and provide corrective actions and recommendations when deviations are present.
- Capable of providing compliant dispositions with minimal production delays. Agile execution.
- Witness selected testing, inspections, and/or audit to support advanced troubleshooting forensics.
- Capable of making prioritized decisions on the delegation of responsibilities to appropriate group peers or taking leadership initiative on technically complex and critical tasks.
- Lead and coordinate complex advanced troubleshooting forensics with multiple disciplines internally and externally from originating problem definition to problem resolution.
- Capable of concise and complete problem definition statements.
- Capable of exploiting the reuse of existing disposition/forensics artifacts. and/or
- Capable of creative adaptation of existing forensics infrastructure in order to produce necessary forensics artifacts.

- Providing strategic inputs as derived from production operational environment to mitigate potential parts shortage incidents.
- Understand technical process oversight and adherence.
- Validate technical processes & knowledge standards meet best practice.
- Enforce adherence to practices and Knowledge Standards to promote product line integrity and consistency -
- Support our Systems Integration team regarding certification, safety and producibility of projects.
- Share Industry and Regulatory Development with KD`s
- Be aware of opportunities to better aircraft build standards in response to technology and regulatory evolution.
- Prepare Method of Compliance (MoC) from internal and external benchmarking: -New or novel regulatory interpretations originating from Applicant design team, or Regulatory Authority specialist interactions -New and/or novel design features for regulatory interpretive guidance for MoC determination.
- Identification and Resolution of complex manufacturing issues, RNC’s, Non-Disclosures.
- Ability to issue critical technical guidance to all BU stakeholders and disciplines.
- Ability to support Systems/Safety team in order to execute A/C Level Safety, Maintenance, Reliability, Flight Operations and Security processes at all product life cycle stages.
- Establish multi-disciplinary stakeholder alignment for Product Development, Triage, CARB and AOG activity when necessary.
- Directly support Management on PCR process, cycle times, optimized solutions with minimal guidance.
- Ability to develop MRB / Liaison lessons learned and implement required process/product improvements into best practices via Knowledge Domain working groups.
Qualifications:
As our ideal candidate,
- You hold a Bachelor or master’s degree in Engineering. May have a PHD related directly to a field of expertise.
- You have over 15 year or more of relevant experience in aircraft electrical & avionics systems.
- You have been directly involved in the definition and certification of at least one Avionics (primary and/or secondary) aircraft system.
- You have an excellent understanding of dispositioning non-conformities raised within a production/manufacturing environment.
- You possess an excellent understanding of all facets of avionics and electrical system definition, integration, and certification and have a good knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (e.g., Maintenance Data Computers, Aircraft Health Management Computers, EWIS, hydraulic).
- You have an excellent comprehension of design, compliance, airworthiness, production, testing and troubleshooting requirements documents.
- You have good knowledge of Part 25 certification process.
- Past experience supporting DAO/DER activities, and deliverable preparations related to RSI, SoC, and CoC documentation are a noteworthy asset.
- You have experience in performing aircraft level compliance impact assessments against complex & safety critical systems.
- You must be familiar with certification concepts and processes pertaining to DAL A software development, as well as their defining guidance materials, namely, ARP4754, DO178, Etc.
- You have experience with modelling and troubleshooting SW packages is a definite asset (MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, Etc.).
- You are an expert in multiple domains, and/or aircraft systems functional areas.
- You are highly recommended by peers, has an industry reputation.
- You may perform as a regulatory authority delegate in the field of expertise.
- You have strong knowledge and experience of systems sizing methodologies, and aero structures interactions with systems functional performance.
- You have a solid understanding of civil aircraft certification rules, demonstrated experience in supporting certification findings of compliance.
- You have strong oral presentation, ability to communicate complex issues to a diverse stakeholder community, including technical writing skills.
- You have mastered the ability to influence and work with minimum formal supervision.
